Letter from the President: Castro Street Fair 2025

Redge Roberts IIWelcome to the 51st Castro Street Fair!

This year’s theme, Radical Happiness, reflects the power of joy in uncertain times. Across the country, LGBTQ+ communities are facing renewed attacks. Our answer? To be visible and to remind the world that joy is resilience, and celebration is resistance.

Since Harvey Milk founded the Fair in 1974, it has grown into one of San Francisco’s most cherished traditions. For more than five decades, the Fair has brought neighbors, visitors, artists, and businesses together in support of the Castro. Along the way, we’ve given back over $1.6 million to local nonprofits, strengthening the community we call home.

This year’s Fair will feature three stages of entertainment, performances from local favorites, and the unique diversity and vibrancy that defines the Castro. It’s a place where old friends reconnect, new friends are made, and community thrives.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I thank our volunteers, sponsors, and partners whose energy and generosity keep this tradition alive.  Like many other community events, we are also challenged with the rising cost to put on events such as ours. Your donations online and at the gates are critical to keeping the fair going each year, and we thank you in advance for your support.

Together, let’s step into the streets with open hearts — celebrating solidarity, resilience, and Radical Happiness.
